Set of 12 antique Belgian Point de Gaze lace placemats — reclining cherubs with goblets in hand, surrounded by flowers, fronds and hanging vines. Absolutely beautiful.
Excellent condition, gently used. Carefully hand laundered, bright and clean. We note a few tiny openings in the lace, a couple of very small repairs, and a small area of damage that we stabilized with a few stitches (see last photo, near edge of lace). All minor — this is an incredible set, and looks amazing.
12 placemats, 12 x 17 inches.
Color is white.
* Table linens made with Belgian Point de Gaze are rare enough (bridal lace and handkerchiefs were more usual), but figural pieces are rarer still. To find both elements in a full and exquisite set of 12 placemats — truly incredible...
