Richelieu embroidery – cutwork with bars – is a form of cutwork lace dating back hundreds of years, and perfected by Madeira's embroiderers during the last century. It's one of the most difficult techniques in Madeira embroidery, and a particular favorite of ours. Richelieu pieces are distinctive, striking and beautiful.
