Breathtaking.
Swimming fish encircle an exquisite center of richly colored sea plants and shells. All gorgeously embroidered in the distinctly French beauvais stitch. We are confident this is mid century D Porthault, and just the sort of thing you might find on an Onassis yacht. Iconic, and tremendously beautiful.
Condition is very good, an area of some fine repairs (see last two photos). Easily forgiven on this rare and magnificent set. Laundered, bright and clean, a few faint discolorations and specks, a few small worn spots. Table ready – this is amazing.
