D. Porthault Heart Cocktail Napkins from the Duke & Duchess of Windsor

A truly extraordinary set—these vintage D. Porthault cocktail napkins showcase 11 different whimsical heart motifs, each one uniquely hand-embroidered with exquisite artistry. Playful, creative, and utterly captivating, they were specially commissioned by the Duchess of Windsor, reflecting her impeccable eye for detail and love of bespoke design.

More than just beautiful linens, these napkins were once part of the Duke and Duchess of Windsor’s famously elegant entertaining—likely used during their intimate cocktail gatherings, where royalty, aristocrats, and luminaries of the time were frequent guests.

Offered in the landmark 1998 Sotheby’s auction of the Windsors’ estate, this set provides a rare connection to one of the most fascinating couples of the 20th century. The New York Times featured the auction in its coverage, highlighting the matching tablecloth as one of the extraordinary treasures offered. The original Sotheby’s hangtags from the sale are included (the hangtags are dated September 1997, but the actual auction was postponed to February 1998 due to the death of Princess Diana).

Condition is excellent: gently used, hand-laundered, clean and bright. Each napkin retains its original laundry label.

Set of 11;
