Antique handmade Italian Cantu lace placemats – graceful and gorgeous.
Excellent condition, probably never used. Hand laundered, bright and clean. Color is ecru.
One placemat has small sections that are white and not ecru (last photo). This phenomenon occurs when different threads are used in the original lacemaking, threads that were initially similar in color, but which haven't aged in the same way as the surrounding lace (and get brighter after laundering). This is not uncommon with old laces like this.
In any case, easily forgiven. These placemats look wonderful!
